PENTECOST
The Day of Pentecost is the fiftieth day of the Easter
season when the Church received the gift of the Holy Spirit.

First we hear the sound…like the rush of a violent wind. Then we see tongues of fire…resting upon each person. Then we feel the Spirit…giving us words to speak. The Spirit blesses all… young and old women and men. Come Holy Spirit…renew us this day and make us your own.

God of grace, you sent the promised gift of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and the women, upon Mary the mother of Jesus and upon his brothers. Fill your church with power, kindle flaming hearts within us, and cause us to proclaim your mighty works in every tongue, that all may call on you and be saved; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Pentecost Sunday Observed in May
Pentecost Sunday is today. The liturgical colors of red and gold are represented in our flowers and on the altar.
Mid-Week Prayer Service Continues
Each Wednesday at 11:30am, Rev. Barb conducts a mid-week prayer service. Please take this opportunity to join together in prayer as a community of faith. Scripture texts for May 22: Psalm 122, Ezekiel 34:1-16. 1 John 2:12-17, Matthew 10:5-15.
UMW Banquet Announced
All women of the church are invited to attend the United Methodist Women Potluck Banquet on Tuesday, May 21, at 6pm. Meghan Cotter of Micah Ministries will be our Speaker. Dianne Williams will introduce Meghan and Sue Chamberlin will lead devotions. Thank you. Always, Headley
Kits for Conference Information Shared
It is that time of year, again, when we turn our attention to collecting and preparing Kits for Conference. Please see the bulletin insert for a description of the types of kits and the contents for each type of kit. If you have any questions, please contact Kits
Coordinator, Carolyn Messer. Kits will be consecrated in worship on June 16.
Micah Ministries Mission Reports
Zion began participation in Micah's Mission on April 29 and is now assigned every 5th Monday breakfast at the VFW Building, Princess Anne Street, downtown Fredericksburg. If anyone would like to assist in preparing or serving/setting up for the next 5th Monday, please contact Linda Struebing 540-295-6228 or lasva@netscape.com. Thank you.
Children's Summer Camp (CSC) Planned
Rev. Barb is pleased to announce that a Children's Summer Camp (CSC) is planned for children 3-10 years old on June 10-12, 9am-12noon. Lunch will be provided each day. A special kickoff will be on Sunday, June 9, with a family lunch following worship and a hayride to a local site. All are invited to join us for lunch and the hayride. Donations will be accepted for lunch with proceeds going to support FredCamp!
Zion Quilters Meet
Remember the Zion Quilters meet on Mondays and Tuesdays, 10am-2pm in the Fellowship Hall. Also, on June 8, the Fellowship Hall and Kitchen will be used for a shower.
Building Use Noted
On May 31 and June 1 the church will be used for a rehearsal and wedding. Also, on June 8, the Fellowship Hall and Kitchen will be used for a shower.
