Stepping out in faith to be Christ to others in the world
Fred CampFRED CAMP 2010 – July 4-10
Beginning Our 12th Year of Area Ministry! YOU CAN HELP NOW! WHAT IS IT? (“LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”) FredCamp is a non-profit 501(3)c, local corporation. Annually, we bring together volunteers from area churches; for an intense week, we live in Christian community and perform critical home repairs and remodeling for low-income individuals and families in Fredericksburg and the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George. We also make time for fellowship, fun and great food!
DONOR ANGELS & SPONSORS: will help us RIGHT NOW…TODAY…IMMEDIATELY…THIS VERY SECOND with our critical needs for the cold, hard cash to meet our up-front camp costs (ie., the insurance policy, camper mailings, T-shirt deposits and building materials ALL must be paid in the next few months). All donations are fully tax deductible! We also hope for generous local companies willing to offer us donated, discounted, and tax-exempt building materials and food supplies to stretch every dollar we receive from camper fees (remember, we are feeding about 100 breakfasts daily, and we measure snacks by the half-ton!), and businesses/individuals may also adopt or sponsor one or more of our work site homes. Each $1,000 sponsorship (covering supplies and building materials for that home) will be acknowledged with a special sign outside the home during camp week. OR, to help us with a specific in-kind gift (for example, we’re always surprised and blessed by individual callings…”milk angels”, ”plywood angels”, “soft drink angels”, “drywall angels”, “snack angels”, “paint brush angels”, “Pop Tart angels”, “cereal angels”…you get the idea, and you’d be amazed at the amount of any of these items 100 campers will need during our July week!). Let us hear about your calling. Contact Mindy Liebau. Finally, anyone can be a donor just by using the internet! Go to www.goodsearch.com, enter FredCamp as your beneficial charity, then search or shop using the Good Search/Good Shop engines. A penny or more comes to us every time you search/shop, and it adds up quickly! CAMPERS: (“WHOM SHALL I SEND?”) We need 50 youth campers (minimum age 14 or entering high school in fall 2009). Each five youth from every church must be accompanied by one adult camper (minimum age 23). GROUPS CONSISTING OF BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY MALE AND FEMALE ADULT CAMPERS. The cost is $250/person for the week for ALL campers, youth and adult. WHO ELSE CAN HELP? (“THE HARVEST IS PLENTIFUL, BUT THE WORKERS ARE FEW.”) It takes several hundred individual volunteers to make Fred Camp happen every year, and there is an important ministry opportunity for everyone in the making of our 11th anniversary year! Below are some opportunities; ask Mindy about others. HANDY PEOPLE: FredCamp’s real VIM’s (Very Important Missioners) spend the week applying their gifts in wood working, dry wall installation/repair, plumbing, painting, etc. to guide crews to success in each home repair project. We LOVE our Handy People! ADULT GO-FERS (many!): with cars/small pick-ups who can spend 3-6 hours delivering work supplies and running errands on any one or more of our five camp workdays (Mon-Fri). (We can reimburse gas, if needed.) LUNCH ANGEL TEAM LEADERS & TEAMS: led by one of their own, a small group of people (perfect for a men’s or women’s group, book club, group of friends, a small business, choir, or another service group) who will adopt one of our 10 Fred Camp work sites to prepare and deliver that site’s simple daily crew lunch at 12:00 noon on all five camp days. (We can give each group a little guidance, and each leader’s job is to ensure his/her adopted crew gets a little variety each day.) Call Louise Zwileneff or Kitti Man. If you are at least 14 years old or going into the 9th grade plan on attending this Christian work camp during the first week of July. Contact Dianne Williams for a registration form.
