The New Testament includes many references to the importance of prayer. Throughout the scriptures we read where Jesus went away from the crowds to pray and to praise God. Prayer was so important that Jesus offered a model prayer, saying, “When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us. And do not bring us to the time of trial.” (Luke 11:2-4).
With this understanding in mind, I invite you to share with the Zion family your prayer requests. Let us join with you in prayer and share our faith in Jesus Christ.
Our church family participates in a prayer shawl ministry. You are invited to submit a request for someone to receive a prayer shawl. Church members knit or crochet threads of yarn into prayer shawls and present them to persons who need strength and comfort. Whenever the shawl is placed upon the shoulders, we hope its recipient will imagine him or herself surrounded by the love, prayers and compassion of those who fashioned them in Christian love.
We also offer an opportunity for persons to place fresh flowers in the sanctuary in praise of God or to honor or memorialize a loved one. These requests are received through our Care and Concerns Ministry.
We at Zion look forward to sharing in faithful ministry with you. Thanks be to God.

Prayer Request
Please add little Leyda to our prayer list. A woman on my group has a 5 yr old sister, Leyda, who just had another stroke! "She went to the ER at Mary Wash and was air-lifted to her regular hospital, Children's in DC. She is often in & out of the hospital (usually for planned visits). She had 3 open heart surgeries before she was 4. She only has half a heart and 1 lung. She also has PLE, protein losing enteropathy. She's a very brave & strong little girl! She was due to take her Make a Wish trip next week but I assume they may postpone it. "
Thanks,
Nancy
